DDC Election (2020) and the People of South Kashmir
However, the initiative presumed to boost the development of the former state was doubted by the people of Kashmir in general and the people of South Kashmir in particular. South Kashmir consists of four most volatile districts of valley i.e. Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian. The people doubted it to be another card played by the BJP government to bypass the frustration of the people post 370 abrogation. The people took it as a challenge and on individual basis decided to boycott the election. It was for the first time that no poster or audio or video warning was posed by any rebel group against the participation in the elections leaving aside a few rare cases which too was doubted.
The people viewed the election move as another tool of the BJP government to show to the world that the people are happy with the BJPs moves and are supporting it. To counter the move, the people individually boycotted the election and tightly slapped the false BJP claims.
